Foundation Academies Scholars Become “Future Ready” at Capital Health Future Young Professionals Career Day

TRENTON, N.J. — February 2026 — Thirty-eight scholars from Foundation Academies recently participated in a Future Young Professionals Career Day hosted by Capital Health, gaining hands-on exposure to careers in health care and taking meaningful steps toward becoming Future Ready.

Held at Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell, the immersive experience was organized through a collaboration between Capital Health’s Young Professionals Committee and Foundation Academies’ Workforce Development Department as part of FA’s Career Exploration Month and in alignment with Health Care Week. The event connected scholars directly with professionals from across the health system, highlighting the wide range of career pathways available within health care.

Throughout the day, scholars rotated through interactive sessions with representatives from Radiology, Nursing, Marketing and Public Relations, Risk Management, Pharmacy, Food and Nutrition Services, Maintenance and Facilities, Medical Administration, Information Technology, Rehabilitation Services, and Emergency Medical Services. Students also toured Capital Health’s Mobile Simulation Lab, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at the skills, technology, and teamwork required in modern clinical environments.

Capital Health President and CEO Al Maghazehe joined the group for lunch, offering scholars the opportunity to connect directly with health system leadership and ask questions about career pathways and professional growth.

“Part of Capital Health’s commitment to our community is supporting our young people,” said Maghazehe. “Health care offers many opportunities for meaningful careers, and it’s my hope that we can help young people in the communities we serve learn about the many possibilities available to them in health care, including at Capital Health. This event was especially meaningful because it was planned by our Young Professionals Committee. Their enthusiasm for sharing their knowledge and excitement about careers in health care is inspiring and gives me great hope for the future of leadership here at Capital Health.”

“We’re committed to helping our students become Future Ready, and experiences like this make the future feel tangible,” said Nwasha Edu, Senior Manager of Workforce at Foundation Academies. “By connecting directly with professionals across so many areas of health care, students are able to see how their interests, classroom learning, and personal goals can translate into meaningful, family-sustaining careers. We’re grateful to Capital Health and their Young Professionals Committee for opening their doors and investing in our scholars.”

The career day provided more than an introduction to health care professions. Through conversations with professionals across diverse roles, scholars gained insight into educational pathways, workplace expectations, and the impact health care professionals have within their communities. The experience reinforced the importance of real-world exposure in helping scholars make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures.

This collaboration reflects Foundation Academies’ ongoing commitment to workforce readiness and strong community partnerships, ensuring scholars graduate prepared to pursue college and career pathways with confidence.

The event also reflects Capital Health’s continued commitment to the local community, workforce development, health care education, and inspiring the next generation of health care professionals.
