Foundation Academy Collegiate Scholars Explore Pathways to Purpose Through Careers in Action Month

Foundation Academy Collegiate scholars recently completed a month-long Careers in Action initiative, developed and organized by Foundation Academies’ Workforce Development and College & Career Departments. The program provided scholars with meaningful opportunities to hear directly from professionals across a wide range of industries, explore career pathways, and gain valuable insight into the skills and experiences needed for success beyond high school.

Throughout the month, scholars engaged with guest speakers, participated in workshops, and visited professional environments that brought career exploration to life. By asking real-world questions and learning directly from industry professionals, scholars gained exposure to a variety of educational and career options while exploring pathways aligned with their interests and goals.

The experience reinforced the importance of real-world exposure in helping scholars make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures. Hands-on projects and interactive workshops strengthened communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills — essential competencies valued across industries.

Careers in Action Month reflects Foundation Academies’ ongoing commitment to workforce readiness and strong community partnerships, helping ensure scholars graduate Future-Ready and prepared to pursue college and career pathways with confidence.

Week 1: Military & Trade Careers

The month began with a focus on military and skilled trade careers, exposing scholars to hands-on professions that offer strong career stability and growth opportunities. Representatives from Lincoln Tech, Pennco Tech, Automotive Training Center, and Universal Technical Institute introduced scholars to training programs in fields such as automotive technology, electrical work, and other skilled trades.

Through presentations and conversations with instructors and industry professionals, scholars learned about certification programs, technical training pathways, and the many opportunities available in high-demand trade careers.

Scholars also had the opportunity to visit the construction site of FA’s brand new, state-of-the-art high school campus (opening 2026), and learn about the construction process from the project team at INTECH Construction.

Week 2: Health Sciences

During Health Sciences Week, scholars explored careers in healthcare through classroom experiences and hands-on learning opportunities. Professionals from Capital Health visited classrooms to share insights into medical careers and the daily responsibilities of healthcare professionals.

Scholars also learned about health sciences certification opportunities through Mercer County Community College, participated in a First Aid workshop led by Foundation Academies Nurse Stephens, and completed a CPR training session in partnership with Penn Medicine.

The week also included a visit to Capital Health’s campus for the Future Young Professionals Career Day, where scholars explored healthcare environments firsthand and connected with professionals across multiple medical specialties.

Week 3: Business & Entrepreneurship

Week three focused on business and entrepreneurship, highlighting the many ways scholars can turn ideas and interests into meaningful careers.

Guest speakers included entrepreneur Andre Williams of Bass Contracting, LLC, who shared insights into building and sustaining a business, and author and motivational speaker Brad Butler II, who encouraged scholars to pursue their goals with discipline and purpose.

Scholars also heard from Ruhul Quddus, CEO of QiMeta, who spoke about the responsible use of artificial intelligence and challenged scholars to think critically about both the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship in an evolving digital economy.

Future-Ready

Careers in Action Month was made possible through the dedication and thoughtful planning of Foundation Academies’ Workforce Development Team and College & Career Department, whose work continues to expand meaningful opportunities for scholars. By building strong partnerships and creating authentic career exploration experiences, these teams help ensure that Foundation Academies scholars are not only prepared for graduation, but truly Future-Ready for the opportunities ahead.
