FA Boys Volleyball Team Clinches first League Championship in FA History

[Trenton, NJ] — [May 20, 2025] — Last Thursday, the Foundation Academies Boys Volleyball team walked into the FA Collegiate Gymnasium stained with the memories of last year’s defeat in the final contest. They responded with a dominant performance, sweeping their opponent in three straight sets (3-0) with athletic plays and undeniable hustle. With this emphatic win, the Knights have brought home the first League Championship in any sport in the history of FA. They built on the foundation laid by last year’s Girls Volleyball team winning their division.
The energy was electric from the first serve, with Senior player Brazil setting the tone early through aggressive play and precise execution. The team showed impressive heart and poise, edging out each set and outlasting admirable pushes from the opponent: New Foundations from Philadelphia. Athletic Director Damen Castagne was proud of the character his team showed with the gravity of the moment.
“After the disappointment of last year's championship game, to see them come back with that kind of focus and determination to bring home the school's first title in any sport...It's really special,” he said. “I've been here for over a decade now, and honestly, this is right up there with the most rewarding things I've witnessed.”
A prominent voice on the sidelines, Assistant Coach and FA Senior Ah’mya stepped into her own to lend her expertise to the Boys team. Her influence shaped the mental approach of the team entering the championship final. “We went into this game with the mindset of it being a regular game. We didn’t allow our nerves to run crazy and distract us,” she said.
As a key player for the successful Girls Volleyball team, she knows what it takes to win and appreciates her peer’s encouragement. This victory is a testament to what our scholars can do when we give them opportunities to lead by amplifying their voices.
“It felt good to lead my team to a win and help them remember that they got here with their hard work. Each player remained focused until the last whistle and knew what the end goal was. I am proud of this team for making history and thankful I was able to be a part of this,” she said.
